A Huge Thank You For Movember Donations!

Another year, another great set of mo’s at W5 Physio! Well, less of the great, but there were definitely mo’s – Stewart affected a ‘Freddie Mercury’, while Greg looked the spitting image of ‘Goose’ from Top Gun… A pair of backhand compliments if ever we’ve heard one! All in all, we raised a massive £441 for a tremendous cause, so a huge thank you to all of our wonderful donors, every penny counts. Look out for next years mo-mentous mustache designs, sure to be bigger and better than ever!

It’s that time of year – Movember at W5 Physio!

Just when you though it was safe to come for physio, Stewart and Greg have again joined the Movember Team to raise money for men’s health charities including testicular and prostate cancer research. Last year, W5 Physio raised just over £500 for the Movember Foundation, this year we hope to beat that target. This year, our friend Aaron Conlan from Ealing’s Energize Gym has joined the team. So if you can, uk.movember.co/team/723057 is the link to donate to our team. Otherwise, feel free to come over to the clinic simply for a laugh at our expense!

Safe and Sound UK @ W5 Physio

W5 Physio was delighted to host Mark from Safe and Sound UK at the Haven Lane clinic recently to update all our staff in their CPR and first aid training. After many a year serving in the MET, Mark did his paramedic training nearly 10 years ago and had some brilliant anecdotes from his own experiences to illustrate the importance of regularly updating ones CPR. Most stories are never to be repeated in polite company of course, but the training was superb and all of the W5 Physio team are now an awful lot more confident to act if called upon in an emergency situation. Thanks Mark!

Congratulations to all after the Ealing Half

A massive congratulations to all those hardy souls who competed in the inaugural (hopefully!) Ealing Half Marathon last Sunday 30th of September. The men’s winner, in an incredible time of 1.09.51 hours, was Jonathan Stead from Herne Hill Harriers, and the women’s winner was Gabriel Carnwath of Altrincham & District AC, in an amazing time of 1:23:43. There has been some wonderful feedback about the event, with all who competed, supported and volunteered at the event saying how uplifting the atmosphere all around the course was. As always, a huge thanks to all the volunteers and first aid staff for giving up their time to attend the event and make it the massive success, congratulations again!

A huge thank you to all those who came along to help celebrate W5 Physio’s 1st Birthday at Ealing Cricket Club last Friday evening! The wine tasting event was a huge success, with undoubtedly the best quote of the night – “Stewart, this is not wine tasting, this is wine drinking.Cheers!” A special thanks to our Wine Master, Harry Fawkes, for educating us all on the differences of certain grape variates in an ‘Old World vs New World’ themed evening. Harry’s wine knowledge may have been wasted on some people (Greg), but a great time was had by all and his selection of wine for the evening was delicious, Salute!

A huge congratulations to all members of Team GB at the 2012 London Olympics, 29 Gold medals and 65 all told is an incredible achievement! Every athlete who represented Team GB should be proud to have competed at what most will agree were the greatest modern games ever, and a huge thank you to all the amazing volunteers who were the ones that made the games go so smoothly. Top that, Rio!

The weather’s improving, the sun is out, and its time to prepare the pitch – cricket season is coming! W5 Physio has teamed up with Ealing Cricket Club, one of London’s most successful cricket clubs and last years National T20 winners. ECC has also won the Middlesex Premier League for the past 6 years, and recently had 5 players receive call-ups to County Cricket Clubs, all fantastic results for the Ealing club! The team at W5 Physio will be there to ensure the players can avoid injury through injury prevention programs, but also help to get the players (and families and staff!) back into action as fast as possible if misfortune does occur.

W5 Physio is delighted to announce that Helen Robartes has joined the team at Haven Lane. Helen is a South African trained physio, who excels in helping free her patients from pain with her excellent grounding in manual therapy and exercise-based rehabilitation. Recently, (perhaps because she has too much spare time??) Helen successfully obtained her MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy, so if you have any questions or concerns about your beloved pets, please feel free to ask!
